Walk4Hearing Wrap-Up!
Hundreds of Hearing Loss Association supporters gathered at Marina Green Park in Long Beach on Saturday, June 9 for the annual fundraising Walk4Hearing. Our chapter was well represented by members, supporters and volunteers. Many of us took the 5K walk along the strand in the bright sunshine and very warm morning.

A Party to Remember!
The HLAA-LA chapter’s Memorial Day weekend gathering on May 26th exceeded everyone’s expectations!
Nearly 30 members and their guests—including some we haven’t seen in quite a while—converged on president Heather Lehr’s beautiful home in San Marino to enjoy a lovely afternoon of food, fun and friendship. Seems like people enjoyed socializing so much, that all other planned activities and announcements went by the wayside, and three hours passed in the blink of an eye.
May 26 – Memorial Weekend Party!
Hey, lovely folks!
Just a reminder that in lieu of our May chapter meeting, we will be having our annual picnic/party on Saturday, May 26 from noon-3pm.
Our president, Heather Lehr, has graciously volunteered to host at her lovely home in San Marino. The address will be provided after you RSVP “I’m coming!” to info@hlaa-la.org
The chapter appreciates YOU! Therefore, we will be providing the food from CA Pizza KItchen (including vegetarian fare). We’ll also provide beverages and dessert, although you’re welcome to bring a dessert to share.
See you at the shindig!

First Meeting in Our New Home a Big Success!
(Click here for our meeting transcript)
Meeting for the first time in a completely new place can be a nerve-racking experience. Will everyone find the new place? Will the audio and visual equipment work? Will Mitzi bring her homemade apple strudels? When we all finally said our goodbyes, it’s safe to say the meeting was a big success.
April 28 Meeting – Canine Companions for Independence
Our April Chapter meeting is bound to be a fun gathering with a canine feel to it. Melissa Billingsley, RVT Practice Manager for Billingsley Veterinary Clinic and a member of the Canine Companions for Independence, will visit us with a furry friend to share and educate us all how those hard of hearing can maintain their independence and ease of mind by having a hearing dog. It should be very educational and fun so make sure to join starting at 10am sharp (but arrive earlier to mingle or to introduce yourself if it’s a first time for you).
Please click here for meeting information and directions. See you then!
