Meeting for the first time in a completely new place can be a nerve-racking experience. Will everyone find the new place? Will the audio and visual equipment work? Will Mitzi bring her homemade apple strudels? When we all finally said our goodbyes, it’s safe to say the meeting was a big success.

We would first like to thank Gary Dorf for such an engaging presentation and open discussion about the relationship between cognition and hearing loss and the impact it has on the brain. Further information will be forthcoming regarding white papers based on these studies.

A heartfelt and big congratulations to Teri and Diane as new joiners to the Chapter’s Steering Committee. The committee has been running a little light in terms of membership so the addition of Teri and Diane will bring a depth of experience and passion that is sure to help the chapter toward the future. Congratulations to you both!

Diane spoke during the meeting to address the need to get moving on our Walk4Hearing efforts. It’s coming June 9 and coming fast so let’s get moving! Sign up (please) to be a part of our chapter team, the HLAA-LA Stars, on our Walk page. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Yahoo Groups page.

The HLAA National Convention is fast approaching. Even though the early-bird registration has passed, you can still get a good deal but hurry, hotel rooms are booking fast. Click here for further information.

A few other notes – Our annual Memorial Day party is fast approaching. Do you have any ideas or suggestions where to have it? Please think about it and share with us in our next meeting on April 27. And, last but not least, we’ll have a fun dogs for hearing presentation sure not to be missed. Hope to see you at our new home!
