Then our Saturday, June 23 chapter meeting is for you!

This meeting will be an informal rap session among friends. Come join to listen, learn and share.
9:30am – mingle; 10am-noon – meeting
Sherman Oaks Library, 14245 Moorpark Street

Captions will be provided and the meeting will be looped. The meeting will be led by our social media chair, Diane Gross (the rest of the steering committee, and some members, will be at the HLAA-National conference in Minneapolis)

Please bring your own beverages and snacks (of course, some extra of the latter to share is always welcome).

May 26 – Memorial Weekend Party!

Hey, lovely folks!

Just a reminder that in lieu of our May chapter meeting, we will be having our annual picnic/party on Saturday, May 26 from noon-3pm.

Our president, Heather Lehr, has graciously volunteered to host at her lovely home in San Marino. The address will be provided after you RSVP “I’m coming!” to info@hlaa-la.org

The chapter appreciates YOU! Therefore, we will be providing the food from CA Pizza KItchen (including vegetarian fare). We’ll also provide beverages and dessert, although you’re welcome to bring a dessert to share.

April 28 Speaker Recap – Canine Companions for Independence

Melissa Billingsley of Billingsley Veterinary Clinic and a volunteer for Canine Companions for Independence (CCI), introduced her hearing dog, Hilty and puppy-in-training Lotus. Melissa has a lifelong hearing loss, which was undiagnosed until she went through the process of applying to work for the CA Highway Patrol in 2010.

Walk4Hearing & Kickoff Luncheon

Your HLAA-LA Stars team captain is feeling lonely! I’m the only one who’s signed up for our annual fund-raiser, which is 89 days out. Join me!

The Walk4Hearing supports the efforts of both our National organization and our chapter. It’s coming up on Saturday, June 9 at Long Beach Marina Green Park. Captioned Movies in Granada Hills

A Wrinkle in Time, the film version of Madeline L’Engle’s beloved children’s book, will be screened with open-captions on Monday, March 19 at 7pm at the Regency Cinema in Granada Hills (it’s in the shopping center on Devonshire St & Balboa Blvd).
