August 26th Chapter Meeting – “Make Your Voice Be Heard & Cookie Festival”
Got your attention with “cookie festival,” didn’t we? We’ll get to that in a little bit…
First, some good news! Our fearless leader, Heather Lehr, is ready to step back into her role as President and is excited about moving the chapter forward, together. At the August meeting, we would love to hear about what you want/need from the chapter. What ideas do you have for shaping HLAA-LA’s future?
We’ll break into small groups to discuss and share ideas, then have one person from each group present the ideas to the larger group. We will write all our ideas on a white board and look for recurring themes.
And what about the cookies?? We’d love for everyone to bring their favorite cookie to the meeting. Not only will we be sharing ideas, we’ll also be sharing cookies!
Finally, we’ll get a brief recap of the TDI (formally known as Telecommunications for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc. ) Biennial Conference that took place in Bethesda, MD in July. Our very own Ken Cluskey attended and will give us an overview of the latest telecommunications news that affect all of us with hearing loss.
PLEASE NOTE: Our originally planned guest speaker, Dr. Johnny Truong (who was scheduled for our July meeting and then asked to be switched to August), cancelled on us, so will no longer be presenting.
Meeting Details
Our meetings take place East Room of the Wingate Building at the Huntington Memorial Hospital, 100 W. California Ave, Pasadena.

PLEASE NOTE: If you cannot or do not wish to walk up or down steps, here are two alternate routes to get to the entrance of the Wingate Building:
1. Use the valet parking at the main entrance of the hospital on California Blvd. Walk through the main hospital building, down the ADA accessible ramp into the courtyard, and enter the Wingate Building.
2. Park in the East Parking Structure. Walk across the street and enter the emergency room doors to your right at the bottom of the stairs. Take the elevator to the 2nd floor, which will let you off near the hospital’s main entrance. Take the ADA accessible ramp into the courtyard, and enter the Wingate Building.
