March 2016 Newsletter and Meeting

Hi Everyone,

Below is the March 2016 Newsletter.

March 2016 Newsletter

We are having a very important meeting this Saturday and hope many of you will join us. We’ll be looking at the state of our chapter… where we’ve been, where we’re at, and where we’re headed. We can’t do this without your input! This is YOUR chapter, so please bring your thoughts, suggestions and ideas to this lively, open discussion.

As always, there will be coffee and plenty of refreshments, and the meeting will be captioned and looped.

Amazing February Meeting!

Message from our President, Pat Widman

It was great seeing so many of you at the meeting on Saturday We had a standing room only crowd which was great!!!

I want to thank Dana Sunderland again for facilitating the “Mixed Couples” discussion. Our panel of couples, Tim & Bianca, Alex & Doug, and Lisa Beth & Joe were great and I think we all benefited from the insightful discussion. Thank you all. We will be posting the meeting transcript later today.

Hi everyone,

Below is a link to the latest newsletter for our January 2016 meeting.

HLAA-LA January 2016 Newsletter

Hope to see many of you at this Saturday’s meeting! We’ll hear from a panel of “mixed couples” (one partner with hearing loss and one partner with normal hearing), who will discuss how hearing loss can affect their relationships. We welcome you to invite your friends, family members and significant others. It should be an informative, engaging and entertaining discussion, moderated by our own Dana Sunderland!

See you Saturday!

January Meeting and Newsletter

Hi everyone,

Below is the link to the January 2016 newsletter.

HLAA-LA January 2016 Newsletter

Please note, I will no longer be listing birthdays and anniversaries on the newsletter. Unfortunately, the roster I was using for this information is very outdated and does not include many new members.

We hope that many of you will come to our chapter meeting next Saturday, January 23. We will be discussing the PCAST (President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology) report and how it could potentially affect us as consumers, and the hearing healthcare industry as a whole.

You can read more about the PCAST at the following links:

Our president Pat Widman will be out of town for a much-deserved vacation, so Steering Committee member and Treasurer Ken Cluskey will be leading the discussion. As always, there will be refreshments and coffee and the meeting will be captioned and looped.

See many of you on Saturday!

November 2015 Meeting

Hi all,

Hope everyone is enjoying what seems like our first FALL weekend. I don’t know about you but I am more than done with temps in the 90s.

I want to thank everybody who signed up at the last meeting for one of the committees. We can still use help, particularly when it comes to set-up and clean-up at meetings. If you’re able to lend a hand, let me know or sign the clipboards that will be at the meeting on 11/21. Remember, many hands mean a lighter load!

October 2015 Meeting Transcripts

Hello everyone – Transcript of our October 24 meeting is available at the link below.

It was a great meeting… and I think we all truly enjoyed the presentation/demo from Barb Velasquez of The Sam Simon Foundation and “Dude” – an adorable Shih Tzu who’s training to be a hearing dog. We also had a great discussion about some of our chapter goals, led by new Prez Patricia Widman!
