Senate Passes the Over-the-Counter Hearing Aid Act of 2017
Exciting news shared by HLAA National regarding the OTC Hearing Air 2017 bill currently progressing through congress. The Senate just passed the bill originally introduced by Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) in March of this year. The House of Representatives passed the bill back on July 12 so now it’s up to the President to sign off on the bill.
Please keep in mind that although this groundbreaking bill is expected to be signed, it doesn’t mean buying hearing aids suddenly changes. It will still take up to 3 years from the FDA to define the appropriate measures to ensure consumers are protected but HLAA will definitely push to get this done sooner.
