Hi everyone! I had the most amazing experience attending my very first Walk 4 Hearing event,
I’m so proud to be one of the top fundraisers alongside my teammate Tim Browning! Thank you to everyone from Team LASTARS, especially Chapter President Wendi Washington for helping me meet my fundraising goals! So appreciative for every donation, every kind word, and all the love.
It was such a special day, my mom came with me, and we had so much fun doing all the activities like face painting, decorating hats and sunglasses, entering raffles, enjoying snacks, and cooling down with Kona Ice Shaved Ice! We also walked around to visit all the different tables, where I learned so much about the resources available for the hard-of-hearing community.
The 5K walk was such a peaceful and beautiful route by the water. One of the most heartwarming moments was meeting another hard-of-hearing walker and listening to his story. I felt so seen and connected. It brought tears to my eyes because, for the first time, I truly felt like I had found my community, a place where I belong and where others understand my disability journey.

As Walk Team Captain, I’m so proud of how we came together for such an important cause.
Special shoutout to my new advocate buddy, Erika, who joined the walk. We chatted the whole way, and I loved introducing her to everyone—welcome to HLAA, Erika!
So happy my family came out to walk too. Plus I was so happy to see some familiar faces and missed some as well!
Overall, what an amazing day!
