January 26 Meeting – All About Gadgets
2019 is underway, and so is HLAA-LA! We’ve planned a slate of informative meeting topics to help you navigate life as a person with hearing loss.
“Can’t hear your alarm in the morning? Worried about hearing your smoke alarm in the middle of the night? Want to know if your Amazon package is at the door? No worries! I’ll bring various alerting devices for you to explore – doorbells, alarm clocks, phone ring flashers, sound signalers, pagers – to name just a few. Come check them out!”
Katie Wright has been a trainer with HLAA’s N-CHATT program (Network of Consumer Hearing Assistive Technology Trainers) for two years. She is a past-president of the HLAA Long Beach/Lakewood chapter, is currently the Chapter’s HAT Chairperson and is on the HLAA-California Association Board of Trustees. A teacher for 38 years, she is also a certified “Noise-Induced Hearing Loss” Educator. Along with HLAA-LA’s Jennifer Nelson, Katie travels to Oakland once a month to participate on the Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program administrative committee. She’s been wearing hearing aids for close to 20 years and has a 10-year-old grandson who shares her genetic hearing loss.
Our own Liz Lesan will be co-presenting.
We meet at the Sherman Oaks Library, 14245 Moorpark Street; socializing starts at 9:30am, with the meeting running from 10am-noon. Beverages provided – feel free to bring a breakfast item to pass. See you there!
