About Us
Hearing Loss Association of America (www.hearingloss.org) is the nation’s largest organization for people with hearing loss. HLAA-Los Angeles is one of approximately 120 chapters nationwide and we share the mission of our National Organization. We work at the local level to open the world of communication through information, education, advocacy and support.
We want you to know that you are not alone.
It is estimated that 1 out of 7 people have some degree of hearing loss, and this loss impacts every aspect of our lives. Whether at face-to-face meetings or online, our goal is to provide mutual support as we educate ourselves, our families, friends, co-workers, educators, hearing healthcare providers, legislative entities and others about hearing loss. While we promote the concept of self-help, we work to sensitize the general population about the special needs of those with hearing loss, its nature and causes.
Did you know? It takes typically 7 years for someone from when they initially realize they may have hearing loss to take action and do something about it. If you think you may have hearing loss, don’t wait to have your hearing tested and reach out to us. We can help!
