Please put on your calendar to join us on Saturday, September 28, for an interesting and unique presentation on the unusual “spooky” sounds hard of hearing people experience.
Many people with hearing loss experience phantom sounds, such as voices or ethereal music, which can be distressing and lead to fears of mental illness or brain disorders. These sounds, often unspoken due to fear of being judged, are actually common and linked to conditions like Musical Ear Syndrome or Audio Pareidolia. Neil Bauman, Ph.D., an expert on these conditions, will present causes and offer strategies to manage them. Dr. Bauman, an author of numerous articles and a book on phantom sounds, Phantom Voices, Ethereal Music & Other Spooky Sounds, will also answer audience questions.
