Walk4Hearing Wrap-Up!

Hundreds of Hearing Loss Association supporters gathered at Marina Green Park in Long Beach on Saturday, June 9 for the annual fundraising Walk4Hearing. Our chapter was well represented by members, supporters and volunteers. Many of us took the 5K walk along the strand in the bright sunshine and very warm morning.

Thank you, again, to our chapter volunteers who went above and beyond to make the day a success. Tim ran the route, putting out marker signs. Georgia, Linda, Puay and Michael – and his adorable dog, Scribble – handed out t-shirts to those who raised $100 or more; they nearly ran out. Liz worked the registration table. Gary and Kate sold raffle tickets and kept watch over the amazing prizes; only Teri was a winner, netting a Trader Joe’s gift bag. Nancy got creative and taped a sign with raffle prices to her torso, then walked through the crowd. Heather and Jen handed out HLAA information materials. Florence, Georgia and Teri took some great photos, which can be found in our Facebook group, on our Facebook promotion page, and on our website. Teri and her friend David even made a grocery run to get more ice for the beverage tub.

Once again, many shouts of gratitude to our chapter’s fundraisers: Gary (at the top of the leaderboard), Diane, Peter, Florence, Teri, Tim, Kat, Georgia, Nancy, Kate, Heather, Linda, Arlene, Sharon, Jen, Puay, Danny.

All told, our chapter members raised $7,764 (perhaps more, when the final tally comes in). We were the top fundraising team this year. Our 40% share of this total will bring a little over $3,100 to our chapter treasury. Well done! (60% of this amount supports National programs and covers Walk expenses).
