What a great 2019 Walk4Hearing event! The Los Angeles Chapter “LA Stars” team was again the top and most awesome team thanks to so many that participated and got the word out with their fundraising efforts. HLAA National and our chapter will greatly benefit from all the hard work as we embark on the rest of 2019 on to 2020 advocating for those with hearing loss.

The Walk welcomed over 500 walkers, were joined by 30 amazing teams, and raised over $50,000 and counting. Note that donations will continued to be accepted through July 31 so it’s not too late to contribute! Any questions can be addressed to our info@hlaa-la.org email address. See below for the photo gallery highlighting the Walk.

A thank you note from our LA Stars caption, Wendi Washington:

“Dear LA Stars,

I would like to close out this wonderful WALK event with a big THANK YOU! The job you did was absolutely awesome!

It was an honor and a pleasure to be your team captain. As a group, we raised more money than any other group in the entire Walk! Our chapter will benefit greatly and the national organization can use this funding as they take on the Medicare challenge.

Thank you to everyone who raised funds, made donations, participated in the Walk and helped out at the Walk. The success of this Walk was due to great people like you. I would like to give a special shout out to Heather Lehr for being the first one to raise $500, giving us all great hope. I would also like to give special thanks to Heather for coming all the way out to Long Beach for the Walk in her wheelchair. She was unable to do the Walk but her presence was inspiring. Thank you Heather!

I would also like to thank our friend Gary Jacobson for adding his fundraising total of $2,785 to ours, making it a grand total of $10,327!! Thank you Gary! A final shoutout to all of our first time teamates for getting involved and doing a great job!

Again, I thank you all so much. Have a terrific summer everybody!”

Sincerely,

Wendi Washington
